Sunday Escape

One nice thing about living where we do, is that we can take a road trip and be at either the beach or the mountains in just a couple of hours.

Last Friday, while we were laying tile in the kitchen of the house we're building, my husband looks at me and says: "How 'bout we steal away to the beach this Sunday?"

You don't have to ask me twice!  We were both getting burnt out from working 12 - 13 hours days on this project just to meet our deadline for the end of June.  There's still lots to do, but a break from it all is definitely in order!

So, here are some scenes from our mini vacation yesterday.

It was fun to just lounge on the beach, listen to my mp3 player and watch people.

I especially like to watch the older folks....imagining what they looked like when they were teenagers.

This gal doesn't look like she's having fun with that thing on her arm.....bummer
The trip was complete with a sighting of the Myrtle Beach Yeti.

There's lots of information signs posted about to alert visitors to the fact that this is a major nesting area for loggerhead turtles and the importance of not disturbing the dunes in order to protect these animals.

Splish Splash!!  The water felt SO GOOD we didn't want to get out!

We headed home after several hours of sun, sand and salt water, stopping at Olive Garden to share a plate of raviolis!   How romantic!
Then, homeward to snuggle into a movie and some handquilting.

All this helped to give us the fuel we needed to push thru the next 3 weeks of home construction.  I've got lots of fun things to do once this project is over.
This puzzle has been sitting in the living room just waiting for me to jump back on it.
Not to mention all the lovely fabric and sewing projects in my "fun room"!

I  bought these containers at Dollar General for $1 each and am using them to contain all my UFOs and such...looks like I've got quite a bit to do!!

So, today it's back to painting!  My little friend Dixie has been keeping me company!

Ooooo Jenn! What a wonderful break away for you and your dear hubby. You have worked so hard and are so deserving of this long overdue mini vacation. I am so happy for you both to have this time together.
The home is looking gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing.

I think your house is going to be so beautiful when it's done. Love the tiles. Since we have some to do and you're experienced maybe you could swing by and give us a hand when we do ours in about 8 weeks?

Loving those fabrics too Jenn. Gorgeous.

What a great idea to take a mini break . I'm filing that idea away for future reference. For when Mr. P and I want to kill each other in 4 weeks.

Lucky You, I am getting sun by walking all over campus and getting water, ice and other necessities for the folks who are here. They arrived on Saturday, after the Conference which lasted from Monday til Friday. I would rather be at the beach! The pics of Jason's house look great. I probably not get to see it until it is completed.
