What the heck is a 'gauguin' ?

This is what I said when one of my customers made this special request for a custom quillow...

"Oh, and while I have you in the quillow-making mood, how about one with yellow and orange, a little blue, a little green, with a Gauguin feel?"

To which I replied (in my head, of course) with the above-mentioned phrase.  I'm sure you know what I did next...YEP - I googled it.

Turns out Gauguin is a French post-impressionist painter (1848 - 1903).  I found this website that gave a good bit of information about him.

I was a bit stumped as to how I was going to find any fabrics with her description of how she wanted the finished product to look and how on earth would I even go about searching...what words would I use to search with.  Fortunately, after a search for "gauguin fabric" ebay came thru for me with a copy of one of Gauguin's famous portraits titled "When Will You Marry?" (or something like that) on cloth.

Long story, short....I found some batiks (absolutely beautiful colors) at fabric.com and this is what I came up with.

Looks Tahiti-ish, doncha think?  Now it just needs to be tied.

While I was working on that this evening, this is what the hubby was doing.

One of our neighbors is an avid gardener/farmer of sorts and every summer he lavishes us with all sorts of fresh veggies.

Bill is shucking these and putting them in the frig and it looks like we'll be cutting and freezing some more corn on Saturday.

Anyway, it's late and I'm headed to a hot bubble bath!....CALGON - Take me away!!!

Oh, and don't forget about my giveaway!
