It's FINALLY here!

Yes, the day I've been anticipating for nearly 6 months has FINALLY arrived....
We pulled the building permit for the construction project on January 25th and yesterday we applied the last of the touch up paint and backed out the side door of a completed home!

This is the first house my DH and I have completed and it feels good.....REAL good.  So, why do I find myself crying off and on today?  Well, it's definitely not for nostalgia's sake - missing the construction work - perhaps it's just the culmination of 6 months worth of stress, tension, worry, work, tiresome effort....all pouring out at once.  Yeah - that's it.

I have more pictures to share with you later...

The homeowners are moving in today and although they, too, have been waiting desperately for this day, they dread it, because no one likes moving day!!

We are celebrating with a date tonight - dinner and a movie!! We'll probably just go to Olive Garden since we have coupons and a gift card and the movie will most likely be Inception - the new thriller with Leonardo DiCaprio - looks like a great movie!

Next on our construction list, we've got to get the foundation under this thing

and then we can go on our promised camping trip, but when we come back it's back to the grind on this project which we started in January 2009!!!

It's roughly the same size as the house we just finished and it's ready for paint and flooring, which is already half laid.  I'm really hoping we can hire a professional painter for this one because I'm SICK of paint!!!!  We spent at least a whole month painting this past house!!

Anyway, I get to go back to my sewing room on a daily basis now, but I also have to catch up in all the other areas of my life.....paying bills, cleaning house, re-organizing closets, gardening...

I've been squeezing in sewing projects at night simply to keep myself sane and here are a few of the things I've been working on that I wanted to share for amylouwho's sew-n-tell Friday.

Naturally, lots of pinafore and bloomer sets because they are TOO FUN to make in all sorts of fabric combinations.

One of my pinafore sets was featured on KID Independent which is a blog celebrating indie style clothing for children.

I also had a customer purchase the ever-popular Pop Daisy in Red pinafore set for a birthday outfit for her one-year-old daughter

and she wanted coordinating dresses for her two other older daughters and this is what we came up with.

They were a lot of fun to create and I hope she likes them!

In my quillow world, I finished my Pinwheel Party project that Anina with Twiddletails was sharing and I turned it into a quillow.

I had to move some of the blocks around the fit the quillow sizing and then I did some hand quilting with variegated thread to match the colors of the fabrics.  I've been doing the hand quilting at night while the hubby is engrossed in his infatuation with watching 24 (I'll tell you more about this later).

I also finished the hand quilting on my second Red and Aqua quillow made from the disappearing nine patch blocks from Jane's Red and Aqua swap.

I like this one so much better than the first one!  I decided to call it "Trellis" since it is similar to a chain-link fence of sorts.

All my pinafore sets are available in this shop and my quillows are in this shop
So, that's my week of creations...What did you make?  Be sure to stop by amylouwho's to see what other wonderful creations were made this week!

I don't see how you get all that quilting/sewing done after a day of building/remodeling houses! Whew!

The pinafore sets are adorable. I can see how they could become addictive. You've got some really great fabric combos there.

Really love both of your quillows.

Oh my goodness! Those little pinafore and bloomer sets are adorable. I love, love, love the one with purple owls on it. My little girl is much too big for it . . . now who do I know that has a baby that needs that?

You have been so busy! I think you hold the record for most finishes in one post. Wow! That house, in and of itself is an amazing finish. And I love the red and aqua quillow. I had so much fun reading your post!

The house is lovely. You can be justifiably proud, and just think you created something that will make memories for the people who live there.

I'm envious of those quillows, and started scheming to have you make two custom ones for my lounge room, and then realised sending them wouldnt be economical ...

Like Elizabeth - I immediately thought "who do I know I can give one of those cute baby outfits to "

Enjoy your time out !
